A shaker style door, our Novara Oak 2 Panel door has increased in popularity in keeping with today's modern simplistic interior design trends. This door arrives unfinished from the manufacturer, so you can choose the colour tone you'd like to finish your door in to match the colour scheme of your home.

The purpose of a fire door is to slow the progress of a fire to other areas of a building, as well as restricting the passage of dangerous smoke from one room to another.

The Maine 2 Panel oak door has been designed to the highest specifications and rigorously tested in accordance with the British standard fire door test. As well as providing 30 minute fire resistance it offers sophisticated looks characterised by the two panels. The door is covered by a thick Oak veneer which wonderfully brings a touch of nature to such a practical object.

Maintenance
Storage - Flat and Dry Only

As wood is a natural product it is important that it is stored correctly. We recommend that your new products are stored flat and in a dry area. We recommend that all packaging is kept on the products, or removed for inspection and then re applied for storage. Again as wood is a natural product it is susceptible to changes in each room's atmosphere and as such please be mindful of this and take care to avoid damp areas or newly plastered rooms etc. For more detailed information on how to treat you newly delivered doors click here.

Wooden Product Finishing

Engineered products (doors and selected skirting and architrave) are simple to finish, as they are machine finished it is unlikely that any further finishing will be required prior to applying your choice of oil or lacquer. As much as modern glues are very strong and resilient we do recommend that you always try a test patch first to ensure you have the right colour. Once your chosen finish has been applied generally very little maintenance is required, it is always advisable to cover any scratches that may be picked up over the years, luckily if you have used a hardwax oil this is a very simple process of re applying the finish with a cloth to the affected area, it is very simple. Our chosen treatments are Treatex and Osmo, both of which provide a beautiful finish and excellent protection.

All of our doors must be treated before they are hung, not afterwards. It is vitally important not to miss areas where the door has been cut for hinges or any other door furniture as this would allow for moisture to get into the door and spread throughout it.

Modern oil finishes are extremely durable and hardwearing, they are very simple to apply and fast drying. Once your appropriate finish has been applied, generally very little maintenance is required. It is always advisable to cover any scratches that may occur over time. The benefit of using hardwax oil is that this is a very simple process of re-applying the finish to the affected area with a cloth.
