The Montreal Glazed Dark Grey Ash Fire Door is part of our range of real Ash veneered modern doors and works particularly well in contemporaryinteriors. The beautiful dark real ash veneer gives a contemporary sophisticated feel to any room and this dark grey FD30 glazed fire door is right on trend with shades of grey proving to be a colour of choice for interior design. The dark grey ash gives a stunning contrast against a light room and the pop of colour is sure to leave a lasting impression. It is preglazed with FD30 fire glass which enables you to have the right fire protection without compromising on the style you want and letting you still let light flood between rooms with the contemporary four glass panels.

This grey ash fire door has a solid core with a solid wood lip allowing a generous 30mm to be trimmed off the height and width in equal measures, helping to fit a non-standard doorway if the two standard sizes aren’t precisely suitable for your needs. The real dark grey ash veneer is FSC certified so you have peace of mind knowing that you are buying a responsibly made door with the added bonus of a generous 10 year manufacturer guarantee.

The internal glazed FD30 door is covered by building regulations as it is certified for up to a 30-minute burn for safety and insurance purposes in the unfortunate event of a fire. The door is finished in real dark grey ash veneer with a clear satin protective finish.

Maintenance

Wooden Product Finishing

Our products are supplied fit for purpose and unfinished (unless a pre-finished door has been ordered). As wood is a natural product, sanding and treating maybe required to achieve the perfect finish. If you have not ordered a pre-finished/treated door then we recommend that quality hardwax oils such as TreatexOsmo, or Sikkens Polyurethane Varnish are used to seal and protect the goods and to validate your warranty.

For doors to acclimatise, they should be left in the house prior to installation for at least seven days with the ambient temperature gradually increased over this period.

All of our doors must be treated before they are hung, not afterwards. It is vitally important not to miss areas where the door has been cut for hinges or any other door furniture as this would allow for moisture to get into the door and spread throughout it.

Applying a stain prior to treating is known to highlight the areas where glue may have spread to the face of the door during manufacturing, particulary where veneers meet. This cannot be claimed for under warranty. A clear, hardwax oil is what should be used.

Modern oil finishes are extremely durable and hardwearing, they are very simple to apply and fast drying. Once your appropriate finish has been applied, generally very little maintenance is required. It is always advisable to cover any scratches that may occur over time. The benefit of using hardwax oil is that this is a very simple process of re-applying the finish to the affected area with a cloth.

If you're wanting to paint an unfinished oak veneer door, ideally a White Primed Door should be purchased instead. However, if you do decide to paint an unfinished oak veneer door then to comply with the door's warranty it must have an undercoat/primer and top coat which is solvent based, not water based.

Storage - Flat and Dry Only

As wood is a natural product it is important that it is stored correctly. We recommend that your new products are stored flat and in a dry area. We recommend that all packaging is kept on the products, or removed for inspection and then re applied for storage. Again as wood is a natural product it is susceptible to changes in each room's atmosphere and as such please be mindful of this and take care to avoid damp areas or newly plastered rooms etc. For more detailed information on how to treat you newly delivered doors click here.

Installation
This engineered door must be fitted with a minimum of 3 hinges. This is due to the weight of the product, which can be attributed to the high grade materials used in the construction of the door. Choosing to ignore this requirement will void your warranty.

Fire Doors

Like with any other product which is there for the purpose of safety, you should check your fire door on a regular basis to ensure that it still opens and closes correctly.

You should also regularly measure the gaps between frame and door. If you have fitted fire doors to comply with regulations, it is vitally important that the gaps do not expand beyond the maximum allowed. This might happen due to a new house settling in and the stresses on the door frame altering slightly.

We always advise our customers to cover up any scratches with treatment to keep the door protected. Our hardwax oils make this an extremely straightforward process of simply applying the treatment using a cloth.
